Fine antique hand-painted Russian Orthodox icon dated 1816, depicting Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker (Saint Nicholas of Myra), one of the most venerated saints in the Orthodox tradition, known as a protector of travelers, the falsely accused, and the children. The icon features a detailed halo and an elaborate oklad crafted from stamped 84 silver, bearing the signature maker’s mark “FT”.
Hand-painted on a traditional wood panel, enclosed in a stamped 84 silver metal riza.
In good condition considering its age, showing authentic age-related wear.
A rare, historically documented, and spiritually striking collector’s item of sacred religious art.
