A rare antique Syrian games table crafted in Damascus circa 1895 (approx. 130 years old). It showcases intricate micro-mosaic geometric parquetry and hand-cut mother-of-pearl inlays. Furthermore, this folding table converts easily for three different traditional parlour games.
- Multi-Game Modular Design: The swivel fold-over top reveals three dedicated playing surfaces. In addition, it features an antique damask velvet card surface, a chess board, and an inlaid backgammon well.
- Master Damascus Marquetry: Syrian artisans adorned the frame with intricate multi-wood mosaic tesserae and luminous mother-of-pearl stars. Moreover, geometric border bands frame every playing zone.
- Concealed Token Compartments: The outer border includes sliding compartments with flush lids. These hidden wells safely store playing counters, dice, and chess pieces.
- Cabriole Legs & Lower Shelf: The base rests on shaped cabriole legs linked by an arched apron. Furthermore, a matching inlaid undertier provides extra structural stability.
- Versatile Display Dimensions: The table measures 86 cm wide, 43 cm deep, and 81 cm high when closed (approx. 2’10” W x 1’5″ D x 2’8″ H / 33.9″ x 16.9″ x 31.9″ inches). When fully opened, the tabletop expands to a square 86 x 86 cm surface.
- Prestigious Ottoman Collectible: This functional heirloom represents the golden age of Levantine salon culture. Therefore, it appeals strongly to collectors of Islamic antiques and fine gaming tables.
