The knots are hand spun lamb wool, the background color is indigo, the center medallion and the four corners are ivory with red, the surrounded large border is red, the selvages are rolled on one line with wool, the edges are finished with 3 cm kilim, very finely knotted, very thick pile in excellent condition, high standard quality and in its original shape. It is a famous Ardabil design from 16th century exposed at Albert museum London.
The Iranian carpet dealers are calling it Shaikh-Saffi design.
