Ancient Egyptian Scarab
An authentic ancient Egyptian hand-carved green stone scarab amulet dating from the Late Period (26th Dynasty, Saite Period, circa 664–525 BC), featuring detailed dorsal anatomical carving and a three-column hieroglyphic inscription on the flat base.
- Hand-Carved Anatomical Detailing: Sculpted in natural mottled olive-green stone with crisp incised clypeus, folded elytra wing-cases, and openwork articulated legs resting on an oval base plinth.
- Three-Column Hieroglyphic Text: The reverse base is deeply inscribed with three vertical framed registers of hieroglyphic symbols, representing funerary spells or protective blessings associated with solar rebirth (Khepri).
- Late Period Provenance (664–525 BC): Characteristic Saite aesthetic and proportions, featuring typical white pigment/infill residue within the recesses that highlights the carving.
- Well-Preserved Condition: Retains crisp carving contours, smooth antique handling polish, and honest surface patination without significant structural loss.
