Islamic Bowl
An antique Middle Eastern Cairoware hand-engraved brass bowl decorated with silver-inlaid Arabic calligraphy cartouches and intricate geometric knotwork.
- Calligraphic & Arabesque Design: The exterior features lobed medallions filled with silver-plated or silver-inlaid Arabic inscriptions, flanked by detailed foliate scrollwork and a central interlaced star on the underside.
- Intricate Interior Engraving: Hand-chased inside with a central geometric star medallion surrounded by an elaborate braided guilloche border along the rim, contrasting against the polished golden brass body.
- Traditional Cairoware Metalwork: Exemplifies late 19th to early 20th-century Mamluk Revival metalcraft (commonly produced in Cairo or Damascus), prized for its fine chasing and mixed-metal ornamental appeal.
The size is 12.5 x 5 cm.
